Susan Bergman makes ceramic sculpture and decorative ware (and teaches the occasional class) at Earth & Fire Studio in Uptown New Orleans. She shows her work locally at the Bywater Art Market at Markey Park, and at the New Orleans Arts Market at Palmer Park. Susan has also shown at docs gallery; some of her pieces are on display at the New Orleans Conservation Guild. In Spring 2007 she spent two months learning more about clay at the Penland School of Craft near Asheville, North Carolina. |
Susan Bergman - sebergman@aol.com Susan’s work is often narrative and frequently whimsical. She anthropomorphizes just about everything, and incorporates myths and archetypes into many of her pieces. She works mostly in stoneware and likes transformation, irony, juxtaposition, and muscular thighs. Susan lives in Uptown New Orleans and can often be seen riding her bike Crash Landing to the gym.
